I remember as a kid there being nothing more exciting than a snow day. Getting to stay home from school and grab the sleds and heading up the hill.
Well- this morning when we opened the curtains, this is what we were greeted with:
In the UK it doesn’t seem to have happened a huge amount lately- and to say that I was excited would be an understatement.
Although I was supposed to go to a Christmas lunch with my friends today, I was completely house-bound. We live in a tiny little village and all the main roads were completely blocked up by snow and cars.
So instead, Luke promised that we’d make the day special as I’d had to cancel my plans.
First off, we gave the kittens their first taste of snow! (not literally)- but they’ve never seen it and they’re also not supposed to be outside yet- so we just opened the door to see if they wanted to explore.
Buzz (the black one) felt one whoosh of cold air and was straight back in the house and although Woody was curious, here’s how it went down:
We then built a snowman- and the only thing I could find in the house to decorate her with was red boiled sweets. She’s amazing- but also kinda looks like the demon child from the Omen, ready to attack us.
I look like a right old state because I’m wearing two pairs of trousers and couldn’t be bothering with makeup on a day like this- but enjoy the final product!
This afternoon was filled with a copious amount of tea, matchmaker chocolates, snuggles by the tree and watching ‘The Santa Claus’- 10/10 would recommend as a wonderful Christmassy film, to get you in the mood.
To round up the day I’ve read a Christmas Carol- by Charles Dickens- and me and Luke went on a winter walk/ had a snowball fight.
Even though it wasn’t quite the Sunday I had planned- it was still such a lovely day.
What did you get up to?
