When Luke and I booked our wedding date, there was one thing on my mind (I mean aside from ya know, spending the rest of our lives together)- and that was what the hell we were going to choose as our first dance.
Music is so important to me and this is such an iconic moment on our wedding day- that I kinda want it to be perfection. We’ve now chosen one (which I’m not going to share cos secret) but here are the songs that we were thinking of. If you’re looking for some inspo for your own special moment:
Perfect- Ed Sheeran
This is my all-time favourite Ed song. This was also the song that I passed out to when I saw him live in Brum lol. It has the most beautiful melody, he has such a unique voice and this line “I see my future in your eyes” is just so fitting for your wedding day. I didn’t want it in the end, because it’s not special enough for us. I feel like a lot of people pick Ed and it wouldn’t have felt personal to me.
Everything- Michael Buble
I like this one because it’s a bit peppier than the usual smushy love song haha! It’s cute, fun and also who doesn’t love a bit of Michael? My sister wants this one for hers though, so that was off the list.
A Thousand Years- Christina Perri
I LOVE her voice. I think she’s perfect for weddings and this video is so beautiful. However, I’m not sharing my first dance with the one that Edward and Bella had in Twilight. Cringe forever.
Ho Hey- The Lumineers
Slightly less chart-topping, but still a sweet, lovely song. I think I’d like to walk down the aisle to this… (oooh spoiler alert)
Take on the world- YMA6
Me and Luke saw them live a few months ago, and this song actually made me cry whilst dancing around with him. It’s really powerful and beautiful. Plus it’s unique enough that I think not many other people would have wanted it.
Only Love- Ben Howard
I ADORE Ben Howard. This song is beautiful, peaceful and one of my all-time favourites. However, I listened to this a fair amount on the train to Plymouth and I ain’t dancing to nothing that reminds me of my ex thanks.
I mean, if worst comes to worst- we can always do ‘the routine’ from Friends to ‘Trouble With Boys’ . Just sayin’…
